Fruitport defeated Whitehall 5-0 in district semifinals on Tuesday night. The Trojans got on the board early as Ryan Laus found Bode Anspach on the back post who headed the ball home to take a 1-0 lead 4 minutes into the game. Laus notched the second goal for the Trojans off a Jackson Rebone assist. Rebone connected with Sean Gieske twice in the first half to take a 4-0 lead into the half. Zach Schaefer got into the action in the second half as he slotted a ball to Gieske who scored his third goal of the game.
Justin Laus recorded five saves for the Trojans who out shot the Vikings 19-5.
Coach Hazekamp was happy with his team's effort and approach noting, "I thought the boys came out with tremendous energy from the start tonight and played unselfish from beginning to end. The backline did a great job of staying organized and connected. Overall, it was a solid performance against a good Whitehall team."
Fruitport will play Spring Lake on Thursday at Reeths Puffer at 6:00 in the district finals.
