Fruitport defeated visiting Hamilton by a score of 3-1 on Saturday afternoon. The Trojans got on the board in the first half as Jackson Rebone struck from deep to take a 1-0 lead. In the second half, Ryan Laus connected with Bode Anspach who slotted home a well-placed shot to extend the lead to 2-0. Ryan Laus tacked on some insurance as Anspach found him in the middle of the box to push the lead to 3-0. The Hawkeyes scored in the final minute of play to cut the lead to 3-1.
Justin Laus had 4 saves in net for the Trojans who move to 11-0-3 on the season and 6-0-1 in the OK Blue. Fruitport will face the Hawkeyes again on Monday at home in the first round of the OK Blue conference tournament.
Coach Hazekamp commented on the close of the regular season noting, "I'm really proud of this group of boys. They continue to grow on the field as well as in their mental toughness. Working through our schedule and continuing to grow is important as we enter the conference tournament and postseason. They've earned it and im glad they get to see the fruit of their hard work."
