WESTERN MICHIGAN CHRISTIAN HIGH SCHOOL: 2
The Trojans started the season on the winning side. They bested a scrappy WMC team 5-2. Fruitport pitchers, Cody Matuz, Austin Wilson, And Gavin Reames combined for a No Hitter. They struck out 21 batters while allowing 4 walks and 2 unearned runs. Wilson picked up the win in relief of Matuz who went 4 innings striking out 12. Reames came on in the 7th to secure the win and the save. Leading hitters for Fruitport were Aaron Sander with a triple, Mayson Whitlow and Aiden Vela with a late inning RBI. Cody Nash had a single and RBI with 3 stolen bases. Caleb Foy had a crucial squeeze bunt to score the go ahead run. Fruitport is off till after spring break when they return to play West Catholic at home.
