Fruitport traveled to Greenville on Tuesday night and defeated the Yellow Jackets 73-55. The Trojans led 16-12 after the 1st quarter, then pulled away in the second quarter to lead 36-22 at the half. Fruitport kept their feet on the gas, extending their lead to 57-35 after 3 quarters.

Leading the way in scoring for the Trojans was junior guard, Bode Anspach, who pumped in 25 points on 6-8 shooting from the 3 pt. line. Anspach also added 5 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 assists. Junior Paschal Jolman added 17 points on an efficient 7-9 of shooting from the field. Jolman also added 6 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 assists. Junior Collin Jolman had his best night of the season, scoring 16 points and finishing well around the rim. Junior Andrew Spyke added 9 points, Camden Farrell scored 4, and Ryan Mitchell added 2 points. Ryan Laus did not score, but filled the stat sheet with 9 assists and 8 rebounds.

Coach Steve Erny was pleased with the effort  on both ends of the floor for the Trojans. "Our guys came out with great energy and force tonight from the jump. I thought our defensive pressure, especially in the second quarter, was a key spark for us. Bode Anspach played a very solid game all-around, and it was especially nice to see him shoot well tonight, as we all know he can. The Jolman brothers (Collin and Paschal) continue to improve, and they both had excellent games tonight. We shared the ball well tonight, getting 20 assists on 29 made field goals. I really like to see that. We know the challenges ahead in our conference and look forward to getting better over the next couple of weeks as we prepare for those challenges."

Fruitport improves to 4-1 on the year. The Trojans are now off for a couple of weeks, and come back from the break to play rival Spring Lake on Friday, January 7th as they begin the OK Blue Conference season.
