FRUITPORT CALVARY CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS: 36
The Trojans kicked off their regular season with a 73-36 victory over neighboring Fruitport Calvary Christian on Tuesday night. Fruitport led 31-8 after the first quarter and 39-15 at halftime.
Leading the Trojans was Bode Anspach with 24 pts, 5 assts, 4 steals, and 4 rebounds. Sophomore Ryan Bosch added 14 pts and 11 rebounds off the bench. Paschal Jolman scored 9 pts, Andrew Spyke scored 8, freshmen Da'syne Williams scored 7 pts and added 5 assists. Collin Jolman added 6 pts and 6 steals, and Kyle Burke scored 5 pts.
Coach Erny said, "We came out aggressive and in attack mode, which is how we want to play. I was proud of our effort tonight. Our seniors set the tone and we had some of our newcomers come onto the scene and play very well. Bode Anspach had a solid all around game, and Ryan Bosch played excellent off the bench, both with his scoring and rebounding. Collin Jolman may have been the MVP of the game, with his defensive presence and activity all game. We will take some things from this game and continue to strive to get better one day at a time."
Fruitport travels to Whitehall on Friday night for a good early season non-conference test. Game is at 7:00 pm.
