Fruitport fell to visiting Mona Shores to open the season on Wednesday night by a score of 2-0. After a scoreless first half, the Sailors notched a goal at the 20 minute mark and added an insurance goal with three minutes left as the Trojans pressed. Fruitport had several quality opportunities throughout the contest but couldn't convert.
Justin Laus had six saves for the Trojans who outshot Mona Shores 9-8 on the night. Fruitport returns to action on Saturday as they travel north to play Ludington and Shelby.
