Fruitport went on the road and defeated top seeded Unity Christian 2-1 in the OK Blue Conference Tournament semifinals. The game was decided in penalty kicks as the Trojans came out on top 4-3.
Early on, the Trojans gave up a goal 10 minutes in to the Crusaders who carried the 1-0 lead into the half. In the second half, Fruitport got on the board off a well scripted set piece as Jackson Rebone connected with Brady Brown to even the game at 1-1. The Trojans had several chances in regulation and overtime but were unable score.
In the shootout, Jackson Rebone, Bode Anspach, Noah Fehler and Sean Gieske all made their shots. Justin Laus made a save on the sixth shooter to clinch the win for the Trojans who will advance to play Holland Christian in the tournament finals.
Coach Hazekamp credited Isaiah Packard, Jorge Burgos Yack, Braylon Marshall, and Issac Vandermolen with great efforts.
