Fruitport went on the road and fell 1-0 to Holland Christian in the OK Blue Conference Championship game. The Trojans battled but had a hard time cracking the back line of the well-organized Maroons. Holland Christian scored off a deflection in front of the Trojan net with 16 minutes remaining in the first half. The Trojans had limited opportunities throughout the night. Justin Laus had a big night in net for the Trojans recording 13 saves for the Trojans including a couple highlight reel efforts. Coach Hazekamp credited Brady Brown, Noah Fehler, Jackson Smith-Upson and Isaiah Packard with solid games in the back.
Fruitport moves to 10-7-2 overall and 5-4-1 in the OK Blue. Fruitport will open district play on Thursday as they travel to play Spring Lake.
