Fruitport went on the road Wednesday night and defeated Mona Shores by a score of 3-2 in nonconference action.  Logan Werschem's huge penalty kick save early in the contest swung the momentum for Trojans. Brady Brown lofted a ball and Ryder Merkins found the back of the net to put the Trojans in front 1-0. Later in the first half, Isaac Vandermolen slotted a ball and found Taylen Acocks who pushed the Trojans ahead 2-0.  The Sailors converted a penalty kick to cut the Trojan lead to 2-1 before half.  

In the second half, the Trojans extended their lead to 3-1 as Eli Aldridge hit a rocket from 35 yards out.  The Sailors scored late in the contest to cut the lead to 3-2 but the Trojans were able to hold on late. 

Coach Hazekamp credited the backline of Brady Brown, Sam Krueger, Braxton Ward, and Isaiah Packard with solid play. Hazekamp also credited Braylon Marshall with a tremendous effort in the midfield. 

Logan Werschem had 6 saves in net for the Trojans who improve to 1-0 in the season. The Trojans are back in action on Saturday as they square off against Shelby and Ludington.
