Fruitport defeated visiting Hamilton by a score of 3-1 in OK Blue Conference action on Monday night. The Trojans started fast as Jorge Burgos Yack found Braylon Marshall whose well-placed shot found the back of the net. Burgos Yack wasn't done as he added another goal later in the first half to extend the lead to 2-0. Elliot Effken scored in the second half to push the lead to 3-0. The Hawkeyes added a late goal to cut the lead to 3-1.
Fruitport outshot Hamilton 13-3 on the night and Logan Werschem recorded 2 saves for the Trojans who improve to 6-0 on the season and 1-0 in conference play.
Coach Hazekamp commented on his team noting, "I thought we had moments of solid play but overall we left some things out there. Credit to Hamilton for continuing to battle throughout the game. Hopefully this is an effort we can build on as we travel to play a tough Holland Christian team on Thursday."
