Fruitport defeated host Reeths Puffer by a score of 3-0 in OK Black action on Tuesday night. The Trojans jumped out to lead early in the first half as Cody Mayette had a beautiful strike to push Fruitport in front 1-0. In the second half, Mayette struck again on a great individual as he beat several defenders and found the side netting to extend the lead to 2-0. Carter Golden added an insurance goal of a Ryan Laus assist to seal the game at 3-0. 

Justin Laus had 8 saves and earned the shutout in net for the Trojans. 

Coach Hazekamp was proud of his team’s resolve and effort on the night noting, “I’m just really happy for our guys. We’ve gone thru a tough stretch and to lose to RP 5-1 a few weeks ago and then come back tonight and win 3-0 against a really good team is a testament to their hard work and willingness to keep battling and buying in. Really proud of all 18 guys tonight. Thought our guys in the back played phenomenal and our midfielders and forwards picked their spots and capitalized on opportunities. This is a great positive step as we transition towards to postseason.”

Fruitport hosts Whitehall on Thursday at home.
