Fruitport fell to visiting Holland Christian by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday night to open their campaign.  The Maroons notched a goal in the first half and a goal in the second half to earn the victory.  Justin Laus and Carter Golden had solid nights for the Trojans.  Laus had 15 saves in net for the Trojans while Golden provided a phenomenal work rate and energy throughout the night.  

Coach Dan Hazekamp was please with the improved second half effort for the Trojans noting, "I thought we took a good step forward in the second half.  Holland Christian is a really top end program and very strong so we knew we were in for a tough game.  We came out a little slow but seemed to improve as the game progressed,  Justin Laus was tremendous for us in net tonight. Our young guys got a taste of varsity soccer tonight.  Overall, I'm proud of our effort."

The Trojans have a quick turnaround as they host North Muskegon tomorrow night at home.
